More of this please...

WaterAid are an incredible organisation. And as I'm increasing discovering, full of amazing people.

I love what they did for World Water Day.

As you can see in the film, they called their supporters, said thank you and wished them a Happy World Water Day.

If every charity did this, one afternoon a month, the impact would grow and grow.

So here's an idea. Rather that sit on the internet and write long essays, posts and articles about how badly the sector has been treated while scrabbling around defending the past, why don't we all start doing what WaterAid are doing and start changing opinions. One person at a time.

Dig the Big Dig

WaterAid have launched the Big Dig with this superb campaign film.

The campaign aims to make sure that by the end of the summer 134,000 people in some of the poorest communities in rural Malawi get access to clean water.

The campaign is really interesting as it will supported by live blogging and Instagram via smartphone from two of WaterAid's staff on the ground in Malawi. We will see the success of the campaign, as it happens, through the eyes of the communities being helped.

And to make things even better, every gift before the 18th September is matched by the government.

You can get involved here.

I love the thinking behind this campaign and wish it all the success in the world.

Water Works; new campaign from WaterAid and it's good!

Ross Bailey sent me the link to the the new WaterAid campaign Water Works.

A simple call to action and proposition "Tell world leaders today: Water Works!"

Governments can do so much more to tackle the global water and sanitation crisis. Taps and toilets save lives and are cheap, simple and effective. And yet hundreds of millions live without these basic human rights, trapped in a life of poverty, disease and wasted opportunity. In April 2012 world leaders are meeting in Washington DC to discuss action on water and sanitation. We need to tell them: Water Works!

It's yet another example of how video can articulate a complex message extremely simply.

I love it. It's a really well put together campaign and I hope it does really well.

#IFCholland my first day...

I've had a great first day at #IFCholland.

I've met a few people in real life that I've been following on twitter for ages which was brilliant. And went to see @BeateSorum's session on digital fundraising which I found really inspiring.

Inspiring because Beate included four great video's in her presentation.

You've all seen this one before, today it brought a tear to my eye (again).

I hadn't seen this WaterAid advert before - I was laughing at the beginning, by the end I was feeling extremely uncomfortable.  I love this ad.

And this one, this means a lot to me. I'm honoured to be friends with Stuart Glen, I've never met him but was moved to donate to his son Mackenzie's charity: water page because the passion for the cause was so genuine.

Then there was this video. The CEO of charity: water sent Mackenzie a personalised thank you video. How cool is that! As Beate pointed out, we should all do a LOT more of this type of thing. It doesn't matter how big you are, you can make the time to do it.

And finally, right at the beginning of her presentation Beate showed us this video - jam packed full of great stats and insight.

Best of all was Beate, she was everything I wanted from the IFC today. Someone who was really passionate about their job, talked about it was loads of enthusiasm and made me smile. A lot.

If you're on twitter you should follow her. She rocked it.
