MobileMagic: The Beate edition

I haven't done one of these for a while as amongst other things I went to the IFC in Holland and did several presentations... The picture above is from on of them and features some knitting.

How to get people from intention to donation. Beate presented this at IFC. It is very very good.

Reuniting Refugees Via Text. Another story showing the power of tech...

Refugee Emojis. Emojis are everywhere. Interesting idea from Médecins Sans Frontières.

Instagram is testing interactive iPhone ads that use 3D Touch and Apple Pay. We need to wake up to the potential of Instagram for comms and fundraising. And just to labour that point… 10 Nonprofits to Follow on Instagram.

How can you change the world with just US $ 0.50? This is everywhere at the moment, so apologies if you’ve already seen it. But it’s good. And we should be looking at this sort of stuff.

Smartphones are changing TV viewing habits. Maybe DRTV ain’t all about telly...

Rebecca Barnaby watches Oasis at Maine Road, April 1996. Includes this quote “The thing I love about this image is that everyone is there, in the moment. There were no mobile phones, Facebook or Twitter; no one in the crowd wanted to document it. The idea of taking a camera out was unthinkable; we’d be worried we’d drop it or lose it.”

Facebook to Users: Add the Last Link You Copied? Not really mobile, but, you know, interesting and quite useful…

And finally, I send an email to friends and clients who want to get these updates as and when I pull them together. If you want to be added to that email list let me know by sending an email to talktopdg@gmail.com
