Digital in 2017: A global overview

Every year We Are Social release their collection of global facts and stats related to digital. It's fabulous.

Some highlights:

  • More than half the world now uses a smartphone;
  • Almost two-thirds of the world’s population now has a mobile phone;
  • More than half of the world’s web traffic now comes from mobile phones;
  • More than half of all mobile connections around the world are now ‘broadband’;
  • More than one in five of the world’s population shopped online in the past 30 days.

Take a little looky.

If we keep on doing the same things the same things will keep on happening...

If we keep on doing the same things the same things will keep on happening.

If all we do is defend the things we've done before we will become defensive.

If we criticise everything that is new we will become outdated and eventually irrelevant.

We need to have an eye on where the supporters, activists and campaigners of tomorrow are.

They are all over social media.

(and we'd be really really stupid to ignore where their kids and grandkids are - they're in the same place)

This set of slides is very good brain food for all progressive fundraisers, campaigners and activists.

Ignore them at your leisure and keep on doing the same old things.

Because that's working just fine right?
